Lake-side thoughts: Independence Day with a twist

by

Day 4 … I spent the 4th without the flag waving, parade, picnic or fireworks. Frankly all were available (well actually the fireworks were held the night before unbeknownst to be for I would have likely gone) but I exerted the freedom to sit it out.

I found it incongruous that the small borough of Eagles Mere still had trash collection. My post on Facebook generated a few comments indicating this was not out of the norm. Egad, what is a national holiday then? Turns out in Eagles Mere, the trash service decided to take the Friday before off.

Ok maybe, the trash service exerted their freedom too. Shouldn’t we all be able to especially if it meets the needs of the people involved? Must be a message there for associations and chapters too.
