We continue our #NVW2015 celebration by thanking our volunteers for their time. ASAE estimated associations record nearly 200 million volunteer hours of community service*; add time spent on critical projects like association governance and professional mentoring, and that number skyrockets.
For all those that give their time like these members, thanks!
When a PRSA Maryland member needed help in studying for her APR exam, Jennifer Kellar, APR came forward and set up a much-needed APR Study Group. With the help of James La Pagali, APR, Anita Brightman, APR, Melissa Sheets, APR, and Tracy Imm, APR, the group ending up bringing together 12 future APR professionals. That’s building the profession.
Advising (think mentoring) is key to moving Appraisal Institute candidates to Designated Members and volunteers are key to the AI Candidate Advisor Program. The advisor serves as a resource and sounding board to encourage and assist the candidate through what is often a multi-year journey. It’s a critical role to build the profession and 12 of our DC Metro members pledged their time! Thanks to:
Donald S. Boucher, Sr., SRA; Jane M. Diven, MAI; Dennis J. Duffy, MAI; Bruce Flanagan, Jr., SRA; Jerrold Harvey, MAI; William C. Harvey, II, MAI; John M. Lansbury, MAI; Mark D. Milbrath, MAI; Tamora K. Papas, SRA; Melanie Sieger, MAI;
Addison L. Smith, MAI, SRA; and Elizabeth W. Thomas, MAI.
A group of members of the Council of Residential Specialists came together to map out a new model for chapters to address the changing profession and their members’ needs. Navigating change means this group’s commitment went beyond serving on a task force to being champions for change and that requires being available to members and leaders to help navigate the new opportunity over the next year or more. Strenghtening the association’s abililty to meet member needs.
Association Volunteers improve professions & industries with a gift of time.
Volunteers have time to give, but not to waste. Are you wasting your volunteers’ time?
