A quick shoutout to some awesome volunteers!

Here’s a quick shout
to two of our association clients, Maryland
Chapter of Public Relations Society of America
and Maryland Recycling Network,
both of whom just held their annual conferences. And what a success both had!

On June 12, PRSA Maryland
held its 37th Chesapeake
where it treated local PR and communications professionals to a
full day of learning, networking, and great food. The day featured a morning
general session that included a presentation on communication trends and a
keynote address on tri-digital. The day followed with a series of 1 hour
learning labs, 30 minute flash sessions, and plenty of networking time. A media
panel rounded out the conference with a discussion on how PR pros can use the
new media landscape to their advantage and provide results for their clients.
New this year … a Learning Navigator who was on hand to help attendees make the
most of the day.

in partnership with Mid-Atlantic Chapter
, took its turn with the 2014
MRN/SWANA-MA Annual Conference
, a two day conference held on June 19 and 12
where over 160 recycling and solid waste professionals came together to share
their visions of a brighter future in the world of the 3 R’s. The theme was The Road to Zero Waste…What Lies Ahead and
included sessions on how to adapt to changing models, recycling marketing
updates, building zero waste communities, alternative technologies, and more.

To put on large events is
never an easy feat for any association, so why do our volunteers take on the
huge task of planning such events? Frankly, it’s because of the community it
builds, the chance for members to be involved, and the opportunity to deliver not just information but more importantly, knowledge.

successful events such as these help to build excitement around an association –
both vital to member and volunteer engagement.

So congrats to all those volunteers that worked diligently to
put these awesome events together. It was a busy couple of months, but the
results were definitely worth it!
